FAQ

  • Who can apply for a grant?

Anyone who is aged 21 or younger and lives in the Borough of Swale. The application must be received by our Secretary before the applicant’s 22nd birthday. With effect from 17 July 2025 the age limit will be 18

  • What activities qualify for assistance?

Almost anything! If it’s creative, athletic or educational then we’ll consider it.

  • Can I apply for funding towards education costs?

No, regrettably we can’t fund education expenses.

  • What will I receive if my application is successful?

That depends on what you need the money for. In recent years grants have tended to be between £50 and £750 but, in special cases, bursaries up to £2,000 could be awarded.

  • Do I ever have to repay the grant?

No, but there might be occasions when a grant comes with conditions attached.

  • Can I apply more than once?

Yes, but on a repeat application you will need to provide proof of improvement since your previous application. We’re more likely to approve a repeat application if you have made an effort to seek additional support elsewhere. We’ll normally consider only one application per person per year.

  • How do I apply?

By clicking here and completing the application form. If you’re under 14 then your parent or guardian will need to sign the application.

  • When should I apply?

Trustees meet four times a year: January, April, July and October. For an application to be assessed at a particular meeting it must be received by the first day of that month.
